Dr. Asif Nazrul, the Legal, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor, has stated that all rape cases must be completed within 90 days.

He made this statement during a press conference at the Ministry of Law on Sunday (9th March).

The legal advisor said, “The investigation of rape cases must be completed within 15 days. The investigating officer must complete it within the specified time.”

Asif Nazrul further added, “We have taken several initiatives. We strongly condemn the incident that took place in Magura with Ashia, and we are committed to ensuring a swift trial for this case.”

He continued, "In order to ensure quick justice, the government is revising the Women’s Abuse Act. Recently, there have been several incidents of mob justice and moral policing, and the government is taking action in these matters. The culprits have been arrested, and the process of arresting others is ongoing. All these incidents are under the government’s observation. We want to reassure the public that no criminal will be outside the scope of justice."

The advisor also mentioned, “To combat violence against women, the government is fast-tracking the resolution of all recent rape cases. These cases are under regular review. To stop sexual harassment and exploitation on the streets, the police will soon introduce a dedicated hotline.”
